COMPANY PROFILE

Harvest Moon is a major producer and exporter of fresh vegetables. It is located on the North West Coast of Tasmania, Australia.

Mission:

"To succeed as a preferred supplier in the food industry through being responsive and the best at meeting customer expectations."

The Company

Harvest Moon was founded in 1981 by its current Managing Director, Neil Armstrong. Since then the company has steadily grown to be one of the largest fresh vegetable companies in Tasmania.

The company now has two shareholders; Neil Armstrong (Managing Director) and  Mark Kable (Agricultural Director).

Harvest Moon's main operations are located in the Forth Valley region of North West Tasmania.

Harvest Moon has owned and operated farms in the Forth area since it started operating in 1981.

Harvest Moon also has shareholding in GroPack, a carrot packing company located in the North Island of New Zealand, and also reciprocal trading agreements with other growers/suppliers around Australia that allow Harvest Moon to provide a continual supply of fresh vegetables all year round.

In 2000, Harvest Moon began operations at their properties, "Kinburn" and "Bronte Downs", located in Cressy, near Launceston in North East Tasmania. The acquisition of this land has more than doubled the size of the property owned by Harvest Moon.

The Service

Harvest Moon grows, packs and distributes a diverse range of fresh vegetables for Tasmania, interstate Australia and Overseas markets.

The major product lines are broccoli, carrots, kabocha, onions, potatoes, seed potatoes and swedes.

A range of other crops such as asian vegetable lines, beans, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, lettuce, leek, parsnip, pumpkin, sweet potato and zucchini are produced principally for the Tasmanian and mainland markets.

Most of the vegetables marketed by Harvest Moon are planted against forward sales and are grown under various arrangements by producers in the north-west and central regions of Tasmania.  This large base of suppliers is serviced by field staff employed by Harvest Moon.

Through strategic alliances with other growers/packers, Harvest Moon can supply many products under the Harvest Moon brand to markets 12 months of the year.
