SUPPLIERS DINNER 2009

 

In September Harvest Moon held its annual suppliers night function in Forth.  The function is held to thank its many suppliers for their valued support over the previous season.  This year we had approximately 120 suppliers and partners attended.

 

The guest speaker this year was Brendan McMahon from the Tasmanaian Bureau of Meteorology.   Brendan presented an insight into the systems used to predict weather patterns and the communities perceptions about its accuracy. 

 

The company’s Agricultural Director, Mr Mark Kable and Managing Director, Mr Neil Armstrong spoke of the challengers faced in the agricultural industry.

 

Each year there are awards presented to growers that have the best overall performance in individual crops and who do that little bit extra to maintain sustainable farming operations.

Harvest Moon awards were granted to growers for best overall performance in carrot, swede, potato, broccoli and onion growing.  

·         Carrot growing Award was won by DR & AJ Anderson;

·         Swede growing Award was won by Little & Son;

·         Potato growing Award was won by Dobbie Family Trust;

·         Broccoli growing Award was won by, Botanical Resources Australia; and

·         Onion growing Award was won by, IR & JM Smith.

 

The Excellence in Agriculture Award created for the overall grower undertaking best practises and initiative in agriculture, Milton Farms from Forth. 

 

Sponsors for the night who kindly donates $500 prizes were, Irrigation Tasmania, William Adams, Tas Farm Machinery, Dobmac, Fresh Freight Tasmania, Serve-Ag and Pivot.
